SAGA (TR) – Saga Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s corpse in a river in the Miyaki district, reports the Saga Shimbun (June 18).
At approximately 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, a fisherman informed police of a woman’s body lying face-down on concrete blocks in the riverbed of the Chikugo River.
According to the Tosu Police Station, the woman measures 165 centimeters in length and is believed to be up to 70 years old. She was attired in a blue short-sleeve shirt and jeans.
The woman’s face and arms had scratches. There were no other external injuries.
Police are attempting to determine the cause of death and the identity of the woman.
The location of the discovery was 1.4 kilometers upstream of Japan National Route 264.
