MIYAGI (TR) – Miyagi Prefectural Police have arrested a man for allegedly dumping the body of a former female colleague in a forest in Kurihara City, reports NHK (April 30).

On Thursday, police found the body of Yuki Sobu, a 23-year-old employee at a nursing home, buried in the Hanayama area. The body was clothed but lacking shoes.

According to Kahoku Shimpo (April 30), the results of an autopsy did not reveal the cause of death. The body did not exhibit any external wounds.

That same day, police arrested Takayuki Watanabe, a 39-year-old former colleague of Sobu, on charges of abandoning a corpse. “I killed her and then transported her body with my car,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Police believe that Watanabe buried the body of Sobu on March 6.

After Sobu went missing, her family consulted with police. Watanabe became a person of interest after investigators spoke with Sobu’s acquaintances. During questioning, he revealed the location of her body.
