KOCHI (TR) – A male employee of the Kochi Prefectural Government has been suspended from work following revelations that he visited an illicit parlor in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district that featured underage girls, reports the Kochi Shimbun (Feb. 2).
Tokyo Metropolitan Police questioned the man, a manager in a personnel division, about his visit to parlor Fortune Cookie during a visit to the capital in May of last year. He was subsequently fined 300,000 yen by a Tokyo court after it was learned that he received sexual services from a 17-year-old girl, which is a violation of child prostitution and pornography laws.
Fortune Cookie is a business coming under the designation “JK,” an abbreviation for joshi kosei, or high school girl. In recent years, law enforcement has been cracking down on such establishments. As a part of this crackdown, police shut down Fortune Cookie in May.
In September, police arrested Yuichi Nagashima, the former manager of Fortune Cookie, for violating the Child Welfare Act.
The manager has been relieved of his duties at the government for three months. He claimed to be unaware of the girl’s age. “There was no sign mentioning JK,” he is quoted, referring to the parlor. “I thought it was just like an ordinary sex shop.”
