KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have launched an investigation in which it is suspected that the suicide of the daughter of a 55-year-old man via gas poisoning lead to his death in Kawasaki City, reports NHK (Mar. 22).

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the man’s wife, 52, found him and his daughter, 22, collapsed in the bathroom of the residence, located in the Kizuki area of Nakahara Ward.

Medical personnel arriving at the residence confirmed them both dead at the scene.

Police suspect that the woman had committed suicide through the release of hydrogen sulfide emitted from a container left near the toilet. The man then entered the bathroom during the suicide attempt and was overcome by the gas.

The woman and a son, 23, were subsequently treated at a nearby hospital. At no point did they lose consciousness.
