IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police on Tuesday identified a male corpse found in the Tone River over the weekend, reports the Nikkei Shimbun (April 6).

At approximately 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, a fisherman in a boat found the body of Kazunori Kobe, a 67-year-old resident of Ushiku City, floating in the river in the Fugawa area of the town of Tone.

The body was clothed in a black jacket and underwear. Both arms were bound in front. He was found to be carrying 2,000 yen in cash.

The body did not exhibit any external wounds. The results of an autopsy revealed drowning to have been the likely cause of death.
