GUNMA (TR) – Gunma Prefectural Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl for the killing of her grandfather inside the residence they share in Midori City, reports TBS News (July 26).
After receiving a tip, police arriving at the residence found the girl’s grandfather, 76, collapsed with an electrical cord around his neck. He was rushed to hospital where he was soon after confirmed dead.
The girl, a third-year junior high school student, has been charged with attempted murder. The suspect admits to the allegations. “Normally, I have a poor relationship with my grandfather,” she is quoted by officers from the Kiryu Police Station. “So I strangled him with an radio cord.”
Shortly after committing the crime, the suspect tipped off police by saying on the telephone, “I killed someone.”
Police are investigating whether to change the charges to murder.
