TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Friday announced the bust of an extortion ring, which included an organized crime member, that targeted sex clubs in Chiba Prefecture, reports TV Asahi (June 5).

On 26 occasions beginning in January, Yoshihiro Suzuki, a 54-year-old member of the Inagawa-kai, and two other associates are alleged to have acquired payments — specifically mikajimeryo, or protection money — totaling 2.6 million yen after threatening the manager of a fuzoku (sex-related) business located in Chiba City.

Suzuki denies the allegations, telling police that he did not make any threats.

Police are now investigating whether Suzuki was behind the extortion of other sex clubs in the area using similar tactics.
