NARA (TR) – Nara Prefectural Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a sergeant who received sexual services in exchange for the non-arrest of an illegal driver, reports Asahi Shimbun (June 3).

Yoshitaka Nakanishi, 44, is alleged to have concealed information about a traffic accident caused by 24-year-old Ryo Hori, a manager at a fuzoku (sex-related) business who was driving without a license, on the Nishi-Meihan Expressway in Yamatokoriyama City on the afternoon of January 22 of last year.

The sergeant later filed paperwork falsely indicating that one of Hori’s male employees was behind the wheel of the vehicle.

Nakanishi has reportedly admitted to covering up Hori’s role in the incident. “It is troublesome to write someone up for driving without a license just before my scheduled holiday,” police quoted the suspect, who took time off from work two days after the incident.

Just before the accident, in which Hori’s vehicle rammed into a sidewall on a curve, the sergeant had been trailing Hori for exceeding the legal speed limit.

On separate days thereafter, Hori provided Nakanishi with a cash payment and sex services at his parlor at no charge.

Police are also considering applying charges of bribery to the case.
