
OKINAWA (TR) – Okinawa Prefectural Police have arrested a 26-year-old male U.S. Marine in the alleged theft of a smartphone from a commercial sex parlor in Naha City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Apr. 1).
Between 2:45 a.m. and 3: 50 a.m. on Saturday, Michael Pham, a sergeant stationed at Camp Foster, located in Ginowan City, allegedly stole the phone, belonging to a female attendant, from a private room as it was being charged.
The sergeant, who has been charged with theft, admits to the allegations, according to the Naha Police Station.
Police summoned to the scene apprehended the serviceman on a road about 100 meters from the shop, according to the Okinawa Times (Apr. 2).
Pham said that he would explain his reasoning for the theft once his lawyer arrives.
