Kumamoto man, 23, stole girl’s underwear to ‘concentrate’

KUMAMOTO (TR) – A 23-year-old man is in custody over the alleged theft of an elementary school girl’s underwear from her residence in Kumamoto City, police said.

At around 9:00 a.m. on July 5, Kota Okamoto, of no known occupation, allegedly swiped the underwear as it hung out to dry in the garden of her house in Minami Ward, reports Nippon News Network (Aug. 20).

When questioned by police, Okamoto, who lives in the same ward, admitted to the charges, saying, “I wanted to to return home and concentrate on her underwear.”

In late May, two other pairs of underwear were stolen from the same residence. After that, the family installed a security camera system. An analysis of the footage of the July theft led police to Okamoto.

During questioning, the suspect added that he had carried out other underwear thefts, and police are now investigating exactly what other crimes he was behind.
