TOKYO (TR) – The Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 38-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of beating her 28-year-old female partner to death inside their apartment in Nishitokyo City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 21).
Kyona Bianchi Arano Custodio Kamise, who currently has no fixed address, is accused of repeatedly punching and kicking Kasumi Kamise between late August and September 3. Kasumi suffered multiple rib fractures and bruising over her entire body, ultimately dying from traumatic shock.
According to police, the suspect attempted to deflect blame by making an emergency call to police at around 10:30 a.m. on September 3.
“My female partner was assaulted before coming home the day before yesterday, and now she is unconscious,” the suspect claimed over the phone. A doctor who rushed to the scene confirmed Kasumi’s death inside the apartment.

Investigative sources revealed that the two women met via an internet site in 2020 and began living together in January 2021. In a highly unusual arrangement, they subsequently entered into a legal adult adoption, with the suspect registered as the parent and the victim as her adopted child.
Upon her arrest on Wednesday, the suspect chose to remain silent.
This is not her first run-in with the law this year. In September, she was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police after becoming violent during voluntary questioning. A subsequent search of the apartment uncovered approximately 230 grams of marijuana and cannabis plants, leading to a separate arrest and indictment for drug possession.
