NIIGATA (TR) – A 24-year-old female elementary school teacher in Niigata City has been fired after being arrested for soliciting two boys under the age of 16 for indecent acts, the local board of education announced.
The instructor, who worked at Ajikata Elementary School, was handed a disciplinary dismissal effective August 31.
In April, the woman allegedly contacted the two boys, both residents of Yamanashi Prefecture, and demanded to meet them for obscene purposes while fully aware they were underage.
Police arrested the teacher on July 6 on suspicion of soliciting one of the minors. She was rearrested on July 23 in connection with the second boy.
Authorities raided her home in May, after which she stopped appearing for work at the elementary school. According to the board of education, the woman had been employed in Yamanashi Prefecture until last year before taking up her teaching post in Niigata City earlier this year.
The Niigata City School Personnel Division issued a public apology over the incident.
“It is extremely regrettable that a school employee committed this misconduct, and as the entity responsible for guiding schools, we are truly sorry,” a representative stated. “We will strictly enforce guidance to eradicate such behavior and strive to prevent any recurrence.”
