HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police have arrested a 46-year-old former yakuza member for allegedly ordering a 2020 shooting at a rival gang’s residence in Amagasaki City, reports Kansai TV (Aug. 28).
Yuki Kamizato, a former member of the Furukawa-gumi — an affiliate of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi — is accused of conspiring with two accomplices to fire three live rounds into a home linked to the rival Yamaguchi-gumi crime syndicate. The gunfire damaged the property’s exterior wall and front door.
Security camera footage from the time of the incident captured a motorcycle speeding away from the scene, immediately followed by a cloud of dust rising into the air. A local resident recalled hearing three distinct, dry popping sounds ring out through the neighborhood.
Kamizato’s involvement surfaced after investigators analyzed mobile phone data from individuals connected to the case. The evidence led police to believe Kamizato acted as the mastermind who directed the two hitmen to carry out the attack.
Police have not disclosed whether Kamizato has admitted to the allegations.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, acting on the suspicion that higher-ranking syndicate bosses may have ultimately orchestrated the shooting.
