Staff member at facility for disabled children accused of sexually abusing girl, filming act

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a male childcare worker at a facility for children with disabilities for allegedly committing indecent acts against a girl and secretly filming the crime, reports TBS News (June 26).

Takahiro Kawajiri, 44, is suspected of touching the body of the disabled girl, 10, at the facility where he worked in Tokyo last November, and secretly filming the act with a hidden camera disguised as a watch.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of indecent acts without consent and other charges, Kawajiri admitted to the charges, stating that he “likes to secretly film things.”

During the investigation, police seized approximately 3,000 items, including a wristwatch-type hidden camera and obscene images and videos of children, from Kawajiri’s home.

At one point, Kawajiri was asked by the facility to remove his watch because his job involved contact with children. However, he explained that he “needed to always know the time” and continued to wear his watch while working.

Police suspect that Kawajiri frequently wore and used a watch-type hidden camera and is investigating other possible crimes.
