HIROSHIMA (TR) – Police have arrested a 50-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of arson after he allegedly torched the home he shared with his parents in Otake City, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 8).
Yukinori Murashige admitted to the allegations upon his arrest on suspicion of arson on Friday.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, emergency services received a frantic report of a fire at the residence. The ensuing blaze completely gutted the two-story wooden home.
A nearby resident described the chaotic scene to reporters: “I heard loud bursting noises, and when I stepped outside, massive flames were erupting from the second floor.”
Murashige reside at the property with his mother and father.
Investigators believe the fire was sparked on the second floor, which suffered the most intense burning. They are currently probing the exact cause and motive behind the blaze.
