Ibaraki city councilman suspected of stalking female acquaintance

IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police have arrested a city councilman in Bando City for stalking a female acquaintance last year, reports TBS News (Jan. 15).

On November 1, Minoru Ishiyama, 63, is suspected of showing up at the home of the female acquaintance, aged in her 60s, and pouring a substance similar to paint thinner on her car, which stripped off the paint.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of violating the Stalking Prevention Act, Ishiyama denied the charges.

According to the police, Ishiyama was issued a restraining order in October. The month before, he had showed up at her home.

According to the city council, a committee has been established to investigate Ishiyama for making “unreasonable demands” to city employees.
