Hokkaido woman assaults husband with hammer

HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police arrested a woman for allegedly striking her husband in the head with a hammer in Tomakomai City on Wednesday, reports TV Asahi (Jan. 8).

A little after 7:00 a.m., Chinatsu Abe, 21, allegedly bludgeoned the man with the metal hammer while at their home in Akenoshinmachi.

The victim suffered bleeding on the back of his head, but his injuries are considered minor, police said.

Upon her arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, Abe partially denied the allegations. “I know I was arrested for hitting my husband on the head with a hammer, but I don’t remember how I hit him,” she said.

After the incident, the man fled the house and made a call to police outside.

Police are currently investigating the details of the incident.
