FUKUOKA (TR) – Following a stabbing incident last month, Idol group HKT48 on Sunday announced on their official website that they will resume theater performances.
The group announced that performances will resume with Team H’s “Witness” performance on January 18. Team KIV’s “There Are Angels Here Too” will follow the next day.
“Thanks to the support of so many people, including fans and stakeholders, HKT48 is celebrating its 15th year of activity this year,” the group said in a statement. “With gratitude for the past 15 years in our hearts, we will continue to deliver various activities as this important milestone year, so please look forward to it.”
The statement went on, “Various plans and events related to our 15th anniversary will be carried out as planned, and we will continue our activities leading into our 20th year while creating excitement together with everyone. We look forward to your continued support for HKT48 in its 15th year.”
On December 14, Naoya Yamaguchi, a resident of Itoshima City, allegedly stabbed a male staff member for HKT48, 44, with a knife-like object at the BOSS E・ZO FUKUOKA shopping center, located in Fukuoka City’s Chuo Ward.
He also allegedly stabbed a woman nearby. Neither victim suffered injuries that were considered life-threatening.
In response to this, HKT48 canceled its theater performances and various events over the New Year period.
