TOKYO (TR) – The family of actress Nagiko Tono announced on Thursday that she has passed away at the age of 45.
The announcement was posted on the blog of Tono, whose real name is Akimi Aoki.
“The deceased lived her life to the fullest every day for her beloved cat. We hope that you will understand this sentiment,” the announcement read.
On July 3, a decomposed body was discovered at Tono’s apartment in Tokyo.

Beginning in the 2010s, she was active in variety shows, such as appearing as a semi-regular on “Out x Deluxe” for Fuji TV.
“We have also received many voices of concern from people, but the cat that the deceased cherished during her life has been safely rescued and is currently living happily in a safe environment,” the statement concluded. “We deeply apologize for the concern and inconvenience caused to all concerned parties by this sudden event. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who supported the deceased until now.”
