TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in the death of his girlfriend in Musashino City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 20).

Between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Friday, Toshiya Nakamura, an employee at a restaurant, is alleged to have repeatedly beat the head of Yukiko Fujinami, 48, inside the bar she manages in the Honmachi area of Kichijoji.

After the incident, Nakamura left the bar and returned to the residence the couple share by himself. Later that same day, the suspect returned to the bar after he realized that Fujinami hadn’t yet come home and found her body collapsed inside.

She was later confirmed dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Nakamura, who has been charged with manslaughter on Saturday, admits to the charges. “We got in an argument and I hit her,” the suspect is quoted by police.
