OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police are searching for the persons or persons responsible for the theft of a safe containing more than 10 million yen from a hostess club in Higashiosaka City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (June 27).

At 1:40 a.m. on Monday, an alarm system was triggered at Club Eichi 2, located on the first floor of a multi-tenant building in the Ajiroshinmachi area. Officers from the Fuse Police Station arriving at the club, which was closed, found a safe containing about 13.3 million yen missing.

The money included funds set aside for the opening of a new club and past revenue.

The 26-year-old manager of the club told police that the safe — measuring 50 centimeters in height and 60 centimeters in width — cannot be carried by one person.

No employees have been in the club since the early morning of June 26.

Police are now examining security camera footage taken inside the club and the surrounding vicinity for clues in the theft, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun (June 27).
