Fukuoka cops seek help identifying corpse found at sea off Kitakyushu

FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police are seeking the help of the public in identifying a man whose corpse was found at sea off Kitakyushu City last month, reports NHK (Mar. 13).

Police released a sketch of the face of a man whose body was found floating about 10 meters offshore in Asano, Kokurakita Ward on February 20. In the sketch, he is shown balding with a plump face.

He is believed to have died within two days of the discovery. The cause of death was drowning.

The man is believed to have been in his 60s or 70s. Of medium build, he stood about 170 centimeters tall.

He was wearing a gray short-sleeved T-shirt, a navy blue long-sleeved T-shirt, a purple polo shirt, a black work jacket, blue work pants, a gray jacket and gray gloves. He was also carrying a brown wallet, ballpoint pen and handkerchief, police said.

Police have thoroughly examined missing persons reports and analyzed security camera footage. However, they have not been able to identify the man.
