OSAKA (TR) – Police are hunting for a man who entered a convenience store with a towel wrapped around his head on Monday and forced a cashier at knifepoint to hand over 300,000 yen in cash.

A man forced his way into an empty FamilyMart convenience store outlet at around 2:45 a.m. in the Nanbanaka area of Naniwa Ward, and threatened a 33-year-old part-time female cashier with a knife-like object as he forced her to hand over some 300,000 yen in cash from a register, the Sankei Shimbun reports (Aug. 22).

The suspect quickly stepped behind the counter, yelled at the clerk to hand over money and ordered her to put cash in a plastic bag, Naniwa Station Police said.

The man was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve t-shirt with black pants, a white mask, glasses, and a towel wrapped around his head. Police say he is in his 20s or 30s with a slim profile, roughly between 170 and 180 centimeters tall.

Police are also investigating the case’s ties to another robbery at a nearby convenience store where some 20,000 yen was stolen.
