TOKYO (TR) – A male elderly driver smashed into a convenience store in Itabashi Ward and asked for cigarettes after hurting two customers, Tokyo Metropolitan Police said on Friday.
The driver in his 80s was trying to park when he careened over a parking block into a Family Mart branch in the Misono area at around 1:30 p.m., Nippon News Network reports (November 11).
Two customers were struck by shelves resulting from the crash.
A witness told police the suspect “came crashing into the store, and then he said ‘give me cigarettes.’”
