Yakuza accused of exiting hotel room, leaving behind bag of drugs

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a member of a criminal syndicate over the alleged possession of methamphetamine and marijuana for the purpose of sale earlier this year.

At around 8:00 p.m. on July 4, Kyo Nakao is alleged to have possessed 14.855 grams of kakuseizai, or methamphetamine, and 0.929 grams of cannabis liquid for commercial purposes at a hotel in Shinagawa Ward.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of violating the Stimulants Control Act and other laws on Tuesday, Nakao denied the allegations. “It’s not mine,” he told the Osaki Police Station, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 8).

According to police, an employee at the hotel where Nakao was staying called police to report that “something like drugs has been left in a room.” Nakao emerged as a suspect after an examination of security camera footage and the utilization of other methods.

Police are now seeking to learn how he obtained the contraband and to whom he made sales.
