Video: Kobe man drove 200 meters with cop on hood


OSAKA (TR) – A 44-year-old man from Hyogo Prefecture has been arrested for allegedly driving with a police officer on the hood of his car for more than 200 meters, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 9).

On the afternoon of November 27, Kenju Nakasaka allegedly drove his car into a male police sergeant from the Toyonaka Police Station who was trying to question him in the parking lot of a convenience store in Toyonaka City. He then drove off with the officer on the hood and continued for about 220 meters.

Nakasaka fled the scene after the incident. The officer suffered minor injuries on his right leg, police said.

Police have not revealed whether Nakasaka, who lives in Kobe City, has admitted to charges of attempted murder and obstruction of justice.

At the time of the incident, there another man was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Masanori Matsuda, 50, surrendered to police two days after the incident. He was also taken into custody on the same charges.

On Monday, police arrested Nakasaka at his apartment in Kobe. Police are continuing the investigation to learn why he fled the scene.
