Suspicious activity preceded discovery of man’s corpse in Shizuoka

SHIZUOKA (TR) – Earlier this month, Shizuoka Prefectural Police arrested three persons living in Shizuoka City over the alleged abandoning of the corpse of a 30-year-old man in Fujieda City.

Thus far, police have accused Kiyoto Suzuki, a 31-year-old corporate executive, Ryoma Miyake, the manager of a bar, and a 19-year-old woman of working together to dump the body of Takayuki Nito in the mountains of the city.

The arrests were made after police discovered suspicious activity connected to Nito, who ran several bars, reports Fuji News Network (Dec. 11).

At around 9:30 a.m. on October 2, Nito’s mother alerted police after she was unable to contact him. It was just before and after this time that police noted some strange activity.

Police visited the man’s home in Aoi Ward, Shizuoka City, about an hour after the report was made. Law enforcement personnel and investigative vehicles arrived one after another that evening. Forensic work began the next day, as residents in the neighborhood attested.

However, even before then, something strange took place the evening before. According to an acquaintance, Nito said that he was going to Kyoto Prefecture in May. Beforehand, he left laundry hanging out on the balcony.

The laundry was still there in October. However, it was suddenly taken in on October 1. Security camera footage from a nearby building shows someone entering his home around 7 p.m.

“Maggots are coming out of a car”

That’s not all. Around that time, police received a call from an automotive-related business. “Maggots are coming out of a car that was asked to be cleaned,” the caller said. On October 3, police seized the vehicle, which was used by Nito.

The car was registered to one of the suspects. An analysis of the GPS records on the car navigation system revealed that it had traveled around the mountains of Fujieda.

A search of the surrounding area revealed the body. The results of a DNA analysis proved to be a match for Nito, police said previously.

Based on the condition of the body and the investigation to this point, it is believed that Nito died between late May and early June. Police also determine that his body was burned.
