Sapporo man accused of sexually assaulting sleeping woman suspected in second case

HOKKAIDO (TR) – A 57-year-old man in custody over the alleged sexual assault of a sleeping woman in Sapporo City earlier this year has been accused in a second case, police said.

At just past 3:00 a.m. on July 26, Fujiyo Takada, of no known occupation, is alleged to have sneaked into a unit of an apartment building in Kiyota Ward where a woman, aged in her 20s, was sleeping, reports TBS News (Oct. 22).

He is then alleged to have touched her body and sexually assaulted her.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of non-consensual indecent assault, Takada, who also lives in Kiyota, admitted to the allegations. “There are some parts I don’t remember, but I did it,” the suspect said.

The residence where the incident occurred is on the second floor. The front door was unlocked at the time of the incident.

After the incident unfolded the woman woke up. She then saw the shadow of Takada. When she realized she had been touched, she let out a scream, causing Takada to flee.

In the second incident, Takada entered another residence through a balcony window on the first floor in September. He is then alleged to have sexually assaulted a sleeping woman, aged in her 30s.

Police are now investigating whether Takada was behind other similar crimes.
