SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested a 20-year-old man over the alleged strangling of his mother, who later died, at their residence in Kawagoe City.
According to Fuji News Network (Jul 28), Yashima Yamamoto allegedly beat his mother, 53, in the face several times before grabbing her by the neck on Friday morning.
At around 7:30 a.m., the suspect’s father found the woman collapsed at the residence and alerted emergency services.
The woman was transported to a hospital. However, she was later confirmed dead, police said.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, Yamamoto admitted to the allegations. He was sent to prosecutors on Sunday.
Police are investigating whether to change the charges to murder.
