OSAKA (TR) – Prosecutors on Tuesday announced that they are seeking a 10-year prison term for the 64-year-old director of a group home in Osaka Prefecture over the alleged rape of two females, including a teenage girl.
Last September, Yuji Shiomoto, the representative of a company that operates a group home for the disabled, is suspected of breaking into the room of the teenage girl, who has an intellectual disability, and sexually assaulting her.
The suspect also shot footage of the assault and of the girl in lewd poses on his smartphone, police said.
He is also accused of committing the same crime with another disabled woman last January.
Upon his arrest over the case from September earlier this year, Shiomoto denied the allegations. “There is no doubt about [me carrying out] the act, but it was consensual,” the suspect was quoted by police.
However, he has since changed his stance. “”I don’t know why I did this,” he told prosecutors. “If I had to say, I think it was because I was weak.”
“Without any regard for their wishes”
Shiomoto was arrested over three cases. However, he is under prosecution for only two.
To carry out the crimes, Shiomoto entered the rooms of the girls and took them out for drives.
The prosecution denounced him, saying, “He treated the victims as tools to satisfy his own sexual desires without any regard for their wishes.”
The verdict is expected in September.
