Postal worker accused of dumping corpse of Hyogo woman in Tokushima mountains

TOKUKSHIMA (TR) – Tokushima Prefectural Police on Saturday announced the arrest a male postal worker in Kochi Prefecture for allegedly dumping the body of a woman in the mountains of Tokushima Prefecture.

Between 8:50 p.m. on Thursday and 12:40 p.m. the following day, Kenta Fukudome, 45, allegedly used a passenger vehicle to carry the body of bar employee Kaori Yamamura, 37, and dump it in the mountains of Nakacho.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of abandoning a corpse, Fukudome admitted to the allegations, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Mar. 22).

At around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Yamamura, who lives in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, called an acquaintance. During the conversation, she seemed confused. “Don’t touch me!” she shouted. The acquaintance then called police.

Police later confirmed in security camera footage that Yamamura and Fukudome, who resides in Kami City, Kochi, were together at a convenience store in Tokushima City.

Based on statements made by Fukudome, police found the body in the mountains on Saturday.

Fukudome also made statements that hinted that he had committed murder, police said.
