OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly throwing a glass bottle from the balcony of his residence in a prefectural housing complex in Mastubara City.
On the afternoon of September 15, Shinsuke Hayashi, of no known occupation, is suspected of hurling the bottle, measuring 15 centimeters in length, from his 8th floor balcony at a man, 81, who was picking up trash on the street.
The man was not injured in the incident. The man lives in the same housing complex as Hayashi, and there has been no trouble between them, police said, according to TV Asahi (Sep. 16).
When questioned by police on suspicion of attempted murder, Hayashi partially denied the charges, saying, “I’m sure I threw the bottle, but I made sure there was no one below before throwing it.”
The victim said that something had fallen from the building two days before the incident, and police are investigating whether this case also involved Hayashi.
