New Zealand man accused of attempting to coerce teenage girl to send him online message

ISHIKAWA (TR) – Ishikawa Prefectural Police have arrested a New Zealand man for trying to get a teenage girl in the prefecture to send him a message via social media, reports the Hokkoku Shimbun (Apr. 26)

At around 10:40 p.m. on April 18, the unnamed man, 56, allegedly sent a online message to the girl. “If you ignore my message, I’ll come to your address. Contact me within two days, I’m serious,” he wrote.

The man arrested on suspicion of attempted coercion is a New Zealand man (56) who calls himself a chef and lives in New Zealand.

According to the Nomi Police Station, the New Zealander claims to be a chef. Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted coercion, the suspect admitted to the allegations.

After receiving the message, the girl contacted police the following day.

On Friday, the suspect arrived at Komatsu Airport on an international flight. Police had received information that he would be on the flight. When he deplaned, an officer was waiting for him.
