Nagasaki man handed prison term for exposing himself at gym

NAGASAKI (TR) – The Nagasaki District Court earlier this month handed a 33-year-old man living in Nagasaki City a prison term of eight months for exposing himself at a gymnasium, reports TBS News (May 2).

At a hearing held on May 1, presiding judge Torahiko Ota noted that the unnamed man had been sentenced to prison for a similar crime in the past. “The manner of the crime was heinous, with the intent being to satisfy sexual desire,” Ota said. “Since he has repeatedly committed similar crimes, his sexual proclivities are deeply rooted.”

According to the indictment and other documents, the man entered the university gymnasium in the town of Togitsu at around 4 p.m. on February 14. He subsequently became completely naked and exposed his penis in front of an unspecified number of people, including female students who were playing volleyball.

He was accused of trespassing and public indecency.

Regarding the sentence of eight months, Ota said, “He has been trying to treat himself by going to a clinic. As well, his mother and other family members have said they will support him, but a prison sentence is appropriate.”

As the sentence was handed down, the man listened without looking up, staring at the floor.
