TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly tying up a female acquaintance in her residence in Kodaira City and sexually assaulting her, reports Jiji Press (July 17).
Between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on July 11, Kazumi Takagi, of no known occupation, is suspected of breaking into the home of the woman, aged in her 40s, tying her up with tape, covering her eyes and mouth and sexually assaulting her.
He also stands accused of stealing tens of thousands of yen in cash and her bank cards from her wallet.
The woman suffered injuries that took one week to heal, police said.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of non-consensual intercourse and robbery, Takagi admitted to the allegations.
Takagi met the victim several years ago. The incident took place immediately after she arrived home. Security camera footage captured the suspect lying in wait near the residence.
Police also revealed that tens of thousands of yen in cash was withdrawn from the stolen cards on the day of the incident.
