OKAYAMA (TR) – Okayama Prefectural Police said revealed on Friday that the body of a 24-year-old woman has been found in the mountains of Bizen City, just hours after the discovery of the corpse of her male acquaintance in his home in an apparent suicide, reports NHK (Apr. 18).
At around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Rina Shimizu was found collapsed and covered by a blanket on the side of a road deep in the mountains. She was confirmed dead at the scene.
According to police, Shimizu, who lives in Setouchi City, dropped out of contact since leaving her home at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. “I’m going to meeting a friend,” she told a family member.
About 50 minutes later, a call was made to police from Shimizu’s mobile phone. The caller said that they had been involved in a hit-and-run incident. A man and woman could also be heard arguing for about 10 minutes.
On Thursday morning, a neighbor of a male acquaintance of Shimizu, aged in his 30s, found him hanged to death at his home in Tamano City. “I couldn’t get in touch with him, so I went to check on his house and found him hanging,” the person who made the discovery told police.
Police are continuing the investigation, believing that the man knew something about the death of Shimizu.
