Man, 30, accused of murder after teenage girl’s corpse found in Osaka love hotel

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the discovery of the corpse of a teenage girl inside a love hotel in Osaka City last month.

On October 9, police apprehended Shunsuke Fukui, of no known occupation, at an undisclosed location in Yokohama City, according to the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 11).

During questioning, Fukui admitted to charges of murder. “I strangled her to death with both hands,” he said.

On the evening of September 28, a man believed to be Fukui and the girl, 17, checked in to a room at the hotel, located in Chuo Ward.

Later that night, a staff member of the hotel entered the room and found the girl, 17, collapsed atop the bed. Police then initiated a search for the man.

Osaka police analyzed the girl’s smartphone left at the hotel and found that Fukui had sent a commented on a social media post the girl had made on September 28, the day of the murder.

The girl is from Osaka City’s Ikuno Ward. The two are believed to have met for the first time just before the murder.

Upon his apprehension, Fukui told police that he hitchhiked from Osaka to Yokohama.

Police are now seeking a motive for the crime.
