Kobe man, 39, accused in fatal shove of female acquaintance

HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police have arrested a 39-year-old man over the alleged shove last month of a 45-year-old woman who later died.

Just after midnight on November 2, Shogo Okada, an office worker from Kita Ward, Kobe City, allegedly shoved the female acquaintance, 45, on a street in Sumiyoshimiyamachi, Higashinada Ward, causing her to fall.

She died seven days later, police said, reports ABC News (Dec. 6).

Upon his arrest on suspicion of inflicting injury resulting in death on Thursday, Okada denied the charges. “The content is wrong,” he said. “I don’t want to say any more.”

About five hours after the woman fell, Okada reported to emergency services that the woman “is sleeping and won’t wake up.” Emergency personnel later found the woman unconscious in the suspect’s apartment.

Police believe that the woman hit the back of her head hard after she was pushed. She died at the hospital where she was taken on November 9.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
