KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a doctor at a university hospital over the alleged rape of a female staff member of the same hospital earlier this year.
On May 11, Tetsuya Otsuka, a 32-year-old doctor at Tokai University Hospital, is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman, aged in her 20s, at his residence in Isehara City, reports Fuji News Network (Sep. 11).
Upon his arrest on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse, Otsuka denied the charges, saying, “The facts are completely different.”
Otsuka and the victim were not associates. However, few days before the incident, the victim’s car accidentally collided with Otsuka’s vehicle in the hospital’s parking lot, police said.
Thereafter, Otsuka threatened the woman, saying, “I’ll tell your coworkers that you caused the accident.” He added, “I’ll make you pay more for the repairs to your car.” He then proceeded to carry out the alleged crime.
Tokai University Hospital said it would “fully cooperate with the investigation.”
