KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of the corpse of a woman in inside her residence in Fujisawa City last week, reports NHK (Aug. 12).
At just after 1:00 p.m. on August 9, Emiko Kasahara, 56, who lived alone in an apartment in Honcho, Fujisawa City, was found collapsed in her bed by her caregiver.
Police later learned that the cause of death was traumatic shock. As well, there were marks on her face and other parts of her body that appeared to have been caused by assault. She is believed to have died several days before the discovery.
When the caregiver arrived, the front door was apparently unlocked. As well, there were no signs that the interior of her residence had been ransacked, police said.
Believing that someone left the scene after the assault, police are analyzing security camera footage taken in the area for clues in the case.
The residence is located about 800 meters northwest of JR Fujisawa Station.
