Kanagawa cops refer deceased couple to prosecutors after skeletal remains of 3 infants found in residence

KANAGAWA (TR) – Following the discovery of the skeletal remains of three infants in a residence in Fujisawa City last year, Kanagawa Prefectural Police have referred a deceased couple to prosecutors, reports NHK (Jan. 3).

Last July, a 51-year-old man living in an apartment in Kameino reported to police that he had little time left to live and had something to say. Officers responding to the request found the skeletal remains of three infants in his residence.

The man said that his wife, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 44, had told him that the bodies were in the closet just before she died.

The man said that he thought that he had to settle things while he was still alive. He died of illness eight days after the report was filed.

DNA testing revealed that the three babies — two girls and one boy — were the children of the man and his wife. On Monday, police referred the two to the prosecutor’s office on suspicion of abandoning a corpse.
