Japan Transport Safety Board investigator accused of molesting girl on train

KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested an aviation accident investigator for the Japan Transport Safety Board over the alleged molestation of a high school girl inside a train carriage last week, reports NHK (Jan. 20).

At around 7:30 pm on January 18, Hideo Nakayama, 56, allegedly touched the thigh of a second-year high school girl, 17, multiple times on an Odakyu Odawara Line train traveling between Noborito and Shin-Yurigaoka stations.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of violating a nuisance prevention ordinance, Nakayama, who lives in Tama Ward, Kawasaki City, stated that he was drunk and does not remember the incident.

As the incident unfolded, the high school girl grabbed Nakayama’s bag, got off the train at Shin-Yurigaoka Station and handed the suspect over to a station employee. “This man is a chikan,” she reportedly said in using the term for molester.

Police are currently investigating the details of what happened during the incident.

A representative from the Japan Transport Safety Board commented, “We are currently confirming the facts.”
