OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the discovery of the headless corpse of a man along a river in central Osaka City earlier this week, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (Mar. 22)

At around 1:50 p.m. on March 19, a passerby alerted police after discovering a suspicious bag in shrubbery of a promenade along the Dojima River in Fukushima Ward.

When police officers checked the area, they found a green plastic bag (48 centimeters long, 58 centimeters wide) containing parts of a man’s internal organs and bones.

The body had been cut into approximately 10 pieces of flesh and 20 pieces of bone. Among the pieces were skin and muscle from the chest, some internal organs and ribs. The head and various other parts have not been found.

The results of an autopsy revealed that the body is that of a man. However, his approximate age, the cause of death and time of death are unknown, police said.

Police are investigating the case as abandoning a corpse and destruction of a corpse. Police are also considering murder as a possibility.
