Fully nude man nabbed after entering Shiga convenience store with knife

SHIGA (TR) – Shiga Prefectural Police last week arrested man who while fully nude entered a convenience store in Otsu City while carrying at least one knife.

The chaotic scene that unfolded as he was apprehended by law enforcement was captured on security camera footage, reports Fuji News Network (Dec. 24).

Around 11 p.m. on December 20, the man enters the store while fully nude. Not only that, but he is holding something that looks like a knife in one of his hands.

Customers and store staff then notice something is wrong, and panic ensues.

“This is serious, serious, serious!” one person yells.

“He’s got [a knife]!”

“Someone, call the police!”

The man with the knife wanders around the back of the store, ignoring the people fleeing. Three men appear to block the store’s doors to prevent him from leaving.

About five minutes after a call was placed with police, sirens from a squad car can be heard.

However, the man with the knife shows no signs of panic when the police arrive. On the contrary, for some reason, the man starts stabbing products on the shelves one by one with the knife.

Soon after, more than 20 police officers completely surround the store outside.

Then, the officers burst into the store. The man resists, brandishing the knife, but one minute later, officers apprehend the man, grabbing his arms and legs.

A person who was in the store recalled the terrifying moment. He tells the network, “I went to buy socks [at the convenience store] and turned around and the man was naked. When I saw the knife, he was silent, so that scared me even more. He had two big knives, and that scared me.”

The man with the knives was said to be around 40 years old and about 185 centimeters tall. Upon his arrest, he chose to remain silent. There were no injuries in the incident.
