TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver in Sumida Ward on Sunday, reports TBS News (Nov. 24).
Upon his arrest on suspicion of robbery and assault, Kai Hasegawa, who was intoxicated at the time, said, “I do not recall [the matter].”
Around 3 a.m., Hasegawa exited the driver’s cab on a street in Higashi-Mukojima. After he tried to leave without paying the fare, the driver tried to stop him.
After a 10-minute struggle, Hasegawa allegedly punched the driver, causing light abrasions to his face.
