CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police launched an investigation after a man was stabbed in the parking lot of a convenience store in Funabashi City on Monday.
The victim, a 64-year-old man, was on his way home when he bumped into a second man, who was wearing a black baseball cap and a white breathing mask, as they passed one another.
The second man yelled, “What the hell are you doing, bastard.” He then stabbed the first man in the stomach with what appeared to be a knife.
After being stabbed, the man chased the fleeing second man while calling police.
The victim pursued the perpetrator for about eight minutes, but eventually lost sight of him.
The first man was taken to the hospital. His condition is not considered serious.
The perpetrator is believed to be aged in his 50s or 60s. He was wearing dark clothing from head to toe, police said.
Police are investigating the case as attempted murder.
