TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly taking secret photos of women inside a coffee shop toilet and selling them online.
According to police, he also snapped photos of the women outside the restroom, reports TBS News (Aug. 29).
On August 21, police arrested Akira Tanaka (23), a resident of Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture, on suspicion of violating a filming punishment law.
Tanaka is suspected of installing multiple small cameras in the unisex restrooms of an outlet of a major coffee chain in Tokyo last October and taking illicit videos of female customers.

Police did not reveal whether Tanaka has admitted to the charges.
In addition, Tanaka is suspected of taking secret videos of women in a similar manner at another store of the same major coffee chain.
Tanaka also took photos of women’s faces as they exited the restroom with his smartphone. He then sold the photos along with the secretly taken videos from inside the restroom to men he met on social media.
