Boy, 16, suspected in fatal stabbing of grandparents in Aichi

AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the fatal stabbing of his grandparents at the residence they shared in Tahara City, reports Fuji News Network (May 11).

Thus far, police have accused the boy, a high school sophomore, of fatally stabbing his 75-year-old grandfather in the neck with a knife at around 2 a.m. on May 9.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of murder, the boy admitted to the allegations.

Upon being called the scene, police also found the suspect’s 72-year-old grandmother dead. The boy has made statements that allude to his grandmother’s murder.

Police also said that the results of autopsies revealed that the cause of death of the two was hemorrhagic shock due to blood vessels being cut in the neck. The murder weapon was a kitchen knife found in the home.

The two were in their pajamas when they were found. Police are now investigating the motive for the crime. They are believed to have been attacked while sleeping.
