AICHI (TR) – To be filed under: the water trade.
Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 34-year-old man who is suspected of stealing nearly 100 faucets park toilets, reports Tokai TV (Jan. 23).
Between January 3 and 7, Yuta Takahashi, an office worker from Anjo City, allegedly stole a brass faucet — worth 4,500 yen — from a sink at restroom in Mukaiyama Park in Kariya City.
When questioned, Takahashi admitted to the charges and made statements to the effect that he had stolen faucets from other parks as well.
Similar incidents have been confirmed in five neighboring cities, with at least 93 faucets stolen in total.
Police are investigating the possibility that he may have repeatedly stolen faucets for the purpose of reselling them.
