AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested an officer over the alleged rape of a woman he met online, reports NHK (April 14).
On April 3, Yo Inoue, a 28-year-old head patrol officer, is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman, aged in her 20s, inside his vehicle while it was parked in a parking structure in Nagoya City.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of forcible sexual intercourse on Friday, Inoue admitted to the allegations, police said.
According to police, Inoue, who had met the woman through social media, was off-duty on the day of the incident. He is believed to have threatened her beforehand.
“It was an act unbecoming of a police officer, and I deeply apologize,” said chief inspector Takashi Kawaguchi. “We will take strict measures [to prevent a recurrence].”
